Task 1 - Entering Spreadsheet Data

The power of a spreadsheet program is its ability to store vast amounts of numbers and to perform calculations upon these numbers. In this task you will create your first spreadsheet document by entering values and your first formula.


  • Start Microsoft Excel
  • Click on cell A1
  • Type the word 'Item'
  • Click on cell B1
  • Type the word 'Price'
  • Below these headings enter the following information

  • Notice that the text in Column A are left aligned (remember this from Task 3?).
  • In cell B6 enter the formula =B2+B3+B4+B5
  • Save this file as Module 1.2
