Module 1.2
Task 8 - spell checking

A.M.D.G.

A spell checker is a program that has a collection of words stored. it takes each word in your text and compares it with it's words to decide whether something is spelt right or not.

There are many errors in your file.

You will have to run the spell check to correct the errors

Go to the Review tab, click on

you will now be presented with this dialog box

The words that are wrong are in bold, red type.

The suggestions for the correct word are shown also.

  • choose the correct word and click change
  • If there is no word or no change needed, click ignore once.
  • Fix as much of the spelling errors as possible

Spell checkers can be very limited in what they can do. For example, they will not recognise peoples names or places. they also have no idea of context e.g. using to instead of two.

Which words in your document are wrong but not seen by the spell check?

  • Correct these errors!
