A prescribed selection of prose or verse texts, studied partly in
English and partly Latin, on the theme either of ‘Cicero and
Letter-writing’ or ‘Ovid and Love-poetry’. Which
is taken will be decided by discussion with the course teacher.

Regular weekly exercises in translating both prose and verse Passages
from standard authors, typically Livy and Cicero

6.3 – Investigation
A 3,000-4,000-word dissertation on a research topic of the student’s
own choice relating to Roman history, society, literature or culture,
the precise field and title to be agreed in discussion with the course
teacher, who will also give bibliographic and other advice as the
work progresses throughout the year.
