For the cultural
part of this module, the pupils will examine the role of slaves and
life in a provincial town.

Pupils
will be introduced to the full range of present tense endings, and
translate slightly more complex sentences, including the vocative
case.
The pupils will
also look at a Roman market and a Roman education.
Module
1.4 – The siege of Troy
A
more comprehensive analysis of noun endings, with particular emphasis
on the third declension and gender, will lead to further translation
of extended passages.
For the cultural
material, the pupils are introduced to the story of the Trojan war.
Module
1.5 – The fall of Troy
The
genitive case is introduced, and adjectival agreement is explored
in greater depth.
We also study
the fall of Troy through passages in English.
Module
1.6 – The meeting of Dido and Aeneas
The noun table is completed and the grammar is used to explore the
tragic story of Dido and Aeneas. This also makes up the cultural material
for this chapter
