The Ten Commandments

  • Thou shalt put the SUBJECT into the NOMINATIVE.
  • Thou shalt put the OBJECT into the ACCUSATIVE.
  • Thou shalt translate ‘of’ (or _______’s) with the GENITIVE.
  • Thou shalt translate ‘to’ or ‘for’ with the DATIVE, unless the SUBJECT is MOVING.
  • Thou shalt translate ‘by’, ‘with’ or ‘from’ with the ABLATIVE.
  • Thou shalt on no account attempt to change the endings of ADVERBS, PREPOSITIONS, CONJUNCTIONS, or any other words: only NOUNS, PRONOUNS, ADJECTIVES and VERBS are to be changed.
  • Thou shalt make all ADJECTIVES agree with the nouns they describe, in NUMBER, GENDER and CASE.
  • Thou shalt not attach VERB-endings to NOUNS or ADJECTIVES, nor vice-versa.
  • Thou shalt turn statements into questions by adding -ne to the end of the first word of the sentence.
  • Thou shalt NOT translate the VERB until the END OF THE SENTENCE; and when thou dost so, thou shalt put it into the right PERSON and the right TENSE.
