Speaking

(to be done in class time - Week 30)

You should give a one-minute presentation covering at least two of the following topics:

  • Personal Information e.g. where you live, family, daily routine
  • Leisure activities e.g. hobbies, sport, weekends, friends
  • Travel e.g. past, present or future destinations

Using different tenses will help you achieve a higher mark.
You will give your presentation to your teacher and not to the whole class.
You may use a short note of 5 sentences, each of no longer than eight words, to help your memory. You must show this note to your teacher before beginning your presentation.

  The Listening, Reading and Writing papers will be taken together during the exams in Week 31/32.  
Listening

Recorded extracts of French with questions and answers in English.
You will hear the French extracts two times.

No dictionary allowed

20 marks
     
Reading

Four texts in French of increasing difficulty and length.
Questions and answers in English.
Dictionary allowed.

30 marks
     
Writing

A 120-150 word essay about yourself. You should cover at least two of the following topics:

  • Personal Information e.g. where you live, family, daily routine
  • Leisure activities e.g. hobbies, sport, weekends, friends
  • Travel e.g. past, present or future destinations

Using different tenses will help you achieve a higher mark.

You can prepare the essay in advance and ask your teacher to look at it in class in the weeks before the exam. However, you must not bring the prepared essay or notes into the exam room.

You are allowed the use of a French dictionary during the exam.
Bring your own dictionary (with your name written inside) - do not go looking to borrow one on the day of the exam.
