Physical Education
Module
1.1 – Basketball
The concept of the game; basic rules; skills of shooting, passing,
dribbling, footwork and movement, teamwork and tactics.
Module
1.2 – Gymnastics
Pupils are introduced to a wide range of movement and equipment. They
are challenged to produce an individual sequence of movement and to
work with partners and in groups. Emphasis is placed on quality of
movement, invention and co-operation.
Module
1.3 – Cross Country Running
All are introduced to cross country running or jogging as an activity
which promotes and maintains aerobic endurance and as an enjoyable
competitive sport. Opportunities are given to compete in inter-house
and intra-school, regional and national competitions.
Module
1.4 – Athletics
Pupils are introduced to throws, jumps & hurdles in P.E. classes.
They can develop these skills further during the summer games programme,
when there is also an opportunity to experience springing & middle
distance running. Pupils have the option to measure individual performance
and experience more specialized practice at after-school training
sessions. There are athletics meetings and matches after school and
some weekends. Opportunities are given to compete in inter-house,
intra-school and regional and national competitions.
Module
1.5 – Health Related Fitness
In this course pupils learn about different components of physical
fitness and how to test them. The course is both practical and theoretical
and includes basic Anatomy, Physiology & Health
