ASSESSMENT and REPORTING
in the Senior School

Through a combination of information on the web, parents' evenings, reports and Q-forms, parents receive a regular flow of information about their child's progress over the course of the school year.

Grades on the web

Pupils' weekly grades, module test scores and exam results are published to parents on the College website. There is on-screen information to help parents interpret grades and other information about their children.

The child's PUPIL ID and a family PASSWORD are required to gain access to the secure site. Parents can only view their own child(ren)'s grades and reports.

Parents' evenings

Parents' evenings are held once a year. Dates are published in pupils' Planners and on the school website. Click here for further details.

Reports

Subject reports are published for parents on the web at the following times of year:

S1 twice a year in December and June
S2 twice a year in January and June
S3 twice a year in December and June
S4 twice a year in March and June
S5/S6 once a year after February prelim exams

Special reports

Special Reports may be prepared for pupils whose work is giving cause for concern. Parents who are worried about progress in a particular subject or in general, are invited to contact their child's Housemaster and to request a Special Report at any time.

Q-forms

Every six weeks or so, teaching staff are asked to review their classes and complete Q-forms for any pupil who gives cause for concern. Q-forms exist to alert parents if a child is underachieving through lack of effort, poor behaviour, absence from class, disorganisation or lack of focus.

If a pupil gets a Q-form, parents should be aware that there is a significant problem which needs their attention and support.

S4-6 pupils getting three or more Q-forms over a period of time in a subject will usually mean the pupil will not be entered for public examination. Younger pupils who get Q-forms will be seen by their Housemaster and parents involved where necessary. Pupils who consistently get Q-forms are putting their future at the College at risk.

Daily report

Pupils who are experiencing difficulties because of poor organisation, attention or behaviour, or failure to complete homework will be placed on daily report. This requires them to obtain a teacher's comment for every lesson and to report to their Housemaster at the end of the day. Each evening the daily report will be brought home for parents to read and sign.
