OUTDOOR EDUCATION
The College runs an Outdoor Education programme designed to broaden horizons and develop skills that are not otherwise addressed in the school curriculum.
Outdoor Education encourages resilience, co-operative teamwork, initiative and leadership, and builds confidence and a positive self-image, as well as affording pupils the opportunity to experience sports and activities that make the most of Scotland's natural environment.
The Outdoor Education programme is an important part of the Jesuit education offered at the College.
S1 and S4 pupils are required to attend a 4-day residential programme. The S1 programme takes place during Activities Week in May. Pupils go on the residential course in House groups and are introduced to a variety of activities. The S4 programme takes place at the beginning of the autumn term. Pupils are able to specialise from a choice of activities.
The cost of the S1 and S4 residential courses is included in fees.
There are many opportunities for pupils in other years to take up activities such as skiing, orienteering, snowboarding, mountain biking, climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing and hill walking.
Many pupils are participants in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
