As the first lay Head of St Aloysius’ I am very conscious of the great tradition that the College has built up since its foundation in 1859. As a Catholic school, and in particular as a Jesuit school, it has served the community by providing a first class education for the young people in its care. The culture and ethos of the school have been formed by this wonderfully rich Jesuit tradition that has been one of the dominant forces in educational thinking for almost 500 years. At the heart of its mission is the development of excellence.
