"Men and women of God - men and women for others."This is the vision at the heart of all Jesuit schools and colleges. The chaplaincy team of three Jesuits and two lay members of staff plan and organise, with students, other members of staff and parents, an extensive programme of activities which aims to create a school community which is aware and grateful for all its gifts and passionate about putting these gifts at the service of others, especially those most in need. Since prayer, reflection and action are at the heart of the Jesuit way of proceeding, (the Ignatian paradigm) every form group starts each day with morning prayer and time is set aside annually for each year group to go on retreat. These are extremely popular and have a huge up-take. (See links) There is a voluntary Mass celebrated every morning in the Sodality chapel, attended by students, staff and parents. The wide range of charitable activities, the Children’s Fund Holiday, the pilgrimage to Lourdes, the community service programme in S6, the Xavier Volunteer Programme, are just some of the ways in which students, staff and parents are able to put into action this desire to be, in both the local and global community, “men and women of God, men and women for others.” http://www.staloysius.org/chaplaincy/index.htm Section on Christian Life - http://www.staloysius.org/Prospectus_04/PROSPECTUS.html http://www.staloysius.org/vision/vision.htm
