Aloysians up for the Challenge with Ardmay Adventure Weekend

Delight in Learning

The Primary 6 classes of St Aloysius’ College embarked on a weekend full of adventure when they visited Ardmay House Outdoor Education Centre in the Loch Lomond National Park, and the young Aloysians were praised for approaching their outdoor challenges with confidence and enthusiasm.

The Primary 6 Weekend Residential at Ardmay House gives pupils the opportunity to spend an entire weekend with their classmates, taking on exciting outdoor adventures.

They were blessed with wonderful weather all weekend and made the most of an action-packed programme of confidence-building activities which aims to teach pupils “the fundamentals of teamwork such as cooperation, communication, listening, and encouragement”.

Abseiling down natural rock-faces, canoeing along Loch Lang, orienteering around the forest, and ‘weaselling’ underneath natural rock falls, the pupils relished the challenges and outdoor learning opportunities.

The Head of Juniors, Mrs Davidson, was delighted with the behaviour of the young Aloysians and was impressed with how both the pupils and staff approached the challenging outdoor activities.

“Our Primary 6 children really enjoyed their action packed outdoor education weekend at Ardmay House. The pupils took full advantage of the glorious weather and outstanding natural beauty and all the staff had great fun joining in the activities – even the weaselling!”
