Children's Fund Holiday shows Aloysians 'at very best'

The annual St Aloysius’ College Children’s Fund Holiday took place during the summer holidays in the picturesque Scottish Countryside setting of Gartmore House, and provided the pupils, staff and children involved with happy memories to last a lifetime.
As one of the College’s most established services to others, the annual Children’s Fund holiday is widely supported by the Aloysian Community and this year’s holiday was hailed as one of the best ever.
A total of 29 Aloysian pupils and 8 members of staff accompanied 27 children with additional support needs on a summer holiday filled with fun and new experiences in the Scottish Countryside.
The Aloysians supervised, helped and encouraged the children as they tried out activities such as canoeing, powerboat trips, swimming, bird watching, park visits, face painting, ten-pin bowling and soft-play.
One of the accompanying members of staff, Mr McKillop, told us why he thinks the Children’s Fund holiday is so important.
“The Children’s Fund Holiday is, for me, one of the highlights of the academic year because I am privileged to witness and experience our pupils at their very best, selflessly giving of their time and energy to very vulnerable children. “
“This trip is only made possible due to the fantastic attitude and effort given by our pupils.”
Not only does the holiday help our pupils grow immeasurably, it also provides the families of 29 disadvantaged children an opportunity to rest, knowing that their children are being well looked after, making it an excellent example of the way in which St Aloysius’ College can serve the wider community.
Of course, the Annual Children’s Fund holiday also requires a great deal of funding and it is made financially possible through the generosity of the Aloysian Community who, throughout the year, offer fantastic support to fundraising events such as the Onesies and Wellies sponsored walk, the Children’s Fund Family Ceilidh, charity marathons, and the Christmas Card Sales.
