S4 Celebrates St Andrew’s Day with a Fundraiser

In celebration of St Andrew’s Day, the Convent Chapel was converted into a tearoom for members of staff at a special elongated morning break. Traditional Scottish treats were on offer, from Tunnock’s tea cakes to shortbread, tablet and Irn Bru. There was even a piper to welcome staff to the tea!

The event was in aid of the S4 nominated advent and lent charity, the Glasgow Children’s Hospital. The Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity funds enhanced equipment and services at the Royal Hospital for Children to ensure that all young patients receive the best possible care and experience. The charity has unfortunately touched many people in the College.

The event was made possible by kind donations from local shops and supermarkets. The College received kind donations from Tesco Metro Sauchiehall Street, Tunnock’s, Aldi, and Bob’s (formerly Latif’s)

S4 will host a series of other fundraising events in the coming weeks. The next event on the fundraising calendar will be the Santa Dash on Sunday 10th December. Last year, over 7500 people took part in the event in Glasgow city centre. This year, pupils and staff from the College will participate in the event. Mr Bartlett, Mrs Piggot, Mrs Erskine, Mr Meechan, Dr Brennan, Mrs Gallagher and Dr Kilgour will all run in the race, and will be joined by 10-15 pupils. There will also be a variety of other festive events including a cake bake sale.

Thanks to S4 for organising the fundraising event, and working hard to be men and women for others.
