OA Euan makes Great Things Happen in Alaska!

Former pupil Euan-Angus MacLeod (04-10) is currently working with a research group at the University of Alaska Anchorage, investigating Arctic coastal processes while completing his MSc in Civil Engineering.

We caught up with him recently to hear how he made great things happen after leaving St Aloysius' College.

"After graduating from the University of Glasgow with a Masters in Civil Engineering, I worked as a graduate water engineer in Glasgow for Sweco - dealing with raw water security and flood alleviation. In that time I developed an interest in the effects of climate change on the way we adapt our infrastructure. I was introduced to Alaska by my partner, who is from the state. However, when an opportunity to conduct research at the University of Alaska Anchorage arose, I applied. I jumped at the chance to delve into researching climate change due to the profound effects that can currently be observed around Alaska. Climate change impacts the safety and survival of Alaska communities, oil infrastructure and military assets in the 49th state. I'm currently working with a research group in the College of Engineering investigating Arctic coastal processes while completing my MSc."
