St Aloysius' College Classics Pupils visit Rome

During the February holiday the Classics Department ran another highly enjoyable trip to Rome. The Senior School pupils spent their time divided between visiting religious and Roman sites, and strolling along the Via Condotti to peer in the windows of the designer shops.

The weather was cold but bright, which allowed our pupils to enjoy the sight-seeing attractions of Rome, such as the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and they even attended Mass in the church of Saint Ignatius, where they saw the famous Trompe-l'œil vaulted ceiling!

Ash Wednesday was a busy day for the pupils as they joined the crowds of people in St Peter’s Square in the morning to attend the Papal audience, and it seemed fitting that one of their final events was to attend Mass and Distribution of ashes in the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs.

Since many of our pupils threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain, we are sure there will be many more fun filled trips for them in the future!
