Glasgow Screenwriter Swaps Red Carpet for Crime Fighting

Author and Screenwriter, Guy Fee (1987) has temporarily swapped the big screen for a much smaller creative canvas after launching a detective crime fiction book series. The Amersham-based screenwriter, whose credits include the British independent movie The Ghost Writer and up-and-coming psychological thriller The Fact Checker, has just released his first detective crime fiction novel, The Traveller, and it is proving a hit with readers.

The Traveller is the first book in the writer’s Traveller Series with the second novel, The Wrong Detective, due to be released next year.

The Traveller, an edge-of-the-seat crime thriller about a Glaswegian career criminal who falls in love with a safehouse landlady on the Isle of Lewis while on the run from a playful assassin, is already wowing readers and critics alike. “Setting the book in Glasgow and the Outer Hebrides was a lot of fun as there are so many colourful characters and backdrops to choose from,” said the Glasgow-born writer. “I’ve wanted to write a detective novel for a while now,” he added. “It’s based on a few individuals I knew back in the day.”

In addition to his screen and print work, Guy, who has lived in Buckinghamshire for 12 years, develops TV show concepts for international production companies.  So, is he going to give up the red-carpet shoes for comfy slippers and a new life as a novelist?  “Not just yet.  All writing is personal but books are about the mind of the writer. While I enjoy the freedom that gives me to explore different themes and subject matters, I love the collaborative process of making a movie alongside a talented director, producers, and, of course, cast and crew.”
