Kindergarten

Transition

Our Kindergarten to Primary School transition programme takes place throughout Term 3 and is carefully designed to support children as they move confidently into the Junior School. During this time, children take part in a range of shared activities and events, including visits to Primary classrooms, opportunities to meet teachers and teaching assistants. They also participate in play sessions with our older pupils. Although the Kindergarten staff have a strong relationship with the Junior School staff, this provides opportunities to discuss any specific transition needs with the relevant staff, involving parents and carers, to ensure we are getting it right for every child.

These experiences help to build familiarity with the new environment, routines and expectations. The programme supports children’s emotional wellbeing, while fostering confidence, independence and a sense of belonging, whilst ensuring they feel prepared and excited for this crucial stage of their learning journey.
