College Comes Alive with the Sound of Music at Senior Concert

The bands, choirs and ensembles of St Aloysius’ College Senior School treated a full-house of concertgoers to an “excellent and varied evening of music showcasing talent from across the College” at the Senior School Concert and the Director of music made an exciting announcement about the College's next full-scale production.

The Senior School Concert featured music from Mozart to Van Morrison and showcased the ever-growing talents of the College’s range of bands, choirs and ensembles.

Parents, staff, and friends of the College were treated to performances by St Aloysius’ College’s String Orchestra, Wind Band, Jazz Band, Folk Group, Junior School Wind Band and Senior Choir.

Reflecting on the growing number of bands and ensembles at the College, Director of Music, Mr Christie, said,

“We were delighted to welcome the Junior School Wind Band and have the opportunity to showcase some of the College’s newest ensembles as they made their debuts.”

The performances were brought to a close by the College’s superb Senior School Choir who performed Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “5 Mystical Songs” for Choir and Solo Baritone accompanied by music teachers, Miss Archibald on piano.

At the very end of the concert, Director of Music, Mr Christie revealed that the College would be producing a full-scale musical in October, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music” which will show from 4 - 6 October 2016 in the College Hall.

Rehearsals for the Sound of Music will begin after the Easter break.
