Inspired by Mozart: Felix Flourishes in UK Piano Competition

St Aloysius’ College piano player, Felix Alexander of P6, has made it through to the UK final of the European Piano Teacher Association’s Piano competition following an impressive performance at the regional finals in Manchester.

The young Aloysian has been receiving piano lessons for just one and a half years from resident tutor, Flora Tzannetaki, through the College’s music tuition programme.

Flora encouraged her ‘very talented’ pupil to enter the EPTA piano competition which aims to ‘encourage, motivate and honour high levels of piano playing and piano teaching nationwide’.

The young Aloysian performed extremely well in the regional final, playing Minuet in C and Gauchou no Koushin – ‘The March of the Geese’.

Felix is now working hard in his weekly Piano lessons to prepare for his trip to Manchester at the end of March where he will perform in the UK final of the European Piano Teacher Association’s Piano Competition at Grade 2 – Grade 3 level.

Displaying his love of piano, Felix recently dressed up as Amadeus Mozart for the College’s Heroes Night celebration where P6 pupils choose their historical hero and tell parents, staff and fellow pupils all about their lives.

The St Aloysius’ College Music Tuition Programme is open to all pupils from Primary 3 upwards and includes one on one tuition in voice, piano, guitar, drums, violin, viola, oboe, bassoon, woodwind, flute, brass, double bass, bass, brass, harp, clarsach, bagpipes and cello.
