Pupils Visit Glasgow University to Tour Chemical Biology Lab

The Chemistry department at the College has built up a close relationship with Glasgow University over the past decade, with various collaborative events and tours.

This year, 9 pupils from S3 – S5 were given the opportunity to tour the Chemical Biology lab of Professor Rob Liskamp. Pupils then spoke to a researcher, who was studying how proteins could be used to prevent cancer. Finally, our pupils then visited a teaching lab where four final year undergraduate students guided them through a series of experiments using hydrogels.

Our pupils had a great time meeting ‘real’ chemists in ‘real’ laboratories. As a result of our visit to Prof Liskamp’s lab, he has invited 20 Higher pupils to visit next year to carry out a more in-depth project related to his work.
