Before heading off on study leave this year the pupils of S5 were delighted to present the fruits of their charitable work to Anne McIlveen of  Salt and Light, a charity which aims to give hope and dignity to those in need on Glasgow’s streets.

Stephen Considine and Lara Barclay presented a cheque for £630 to Anne McIlveen of Salt and Light on behalf of their S5 year group who had raised the money with a number of events throughout Lent.

To encourage their fellow pupils to donate funds, the S5 year group organised a bake sale, a Teachers v Pupils football match, a guess the teddy’s birthday draw and a competition to guess the teacher from baby photos.

The Aloysians also collected toiletries and other essential items to donate directly to Salt and Light who have been offering crucial help to vulnerable people on the streets of Glasgow for over 15 years.

The founder of Salt and Light, Anne McIlveen, who recently received an MBE for her services to the community of Glasgow, thanked the pupils for their hard work and kindness.
