Summer Show Proves a Real Thriller in Showcasing Junior Talent

The talented boys and girls of St Aloysius’ College Junior School delivered a thrilling array of performances at this year’s Scottish themed Summer Show, Bogles, Ballads and Belters.

This year’s Summer Show was opened with an uplifting performance of the Lion King’s Circle of Life which saw every pupil from Primary 5, Primary 6 and Primary 7 take to the stage wearing multi-coloured clothing and flying paper birds of paradise.

The three Junior year groups then got together again later on in the production to deliver two more show-stopping musical numbers, Step in Time from Mary Poppins and When I Grow up from Matilda.

Delivering four fantastic performances in just two days, Bogles, Ballads and Belters delighted family members, pupils and teachers and featured instrumental highlights throughout including recitals from the Junior School’s String Ensemble, Wind Band and talented soloists.

The show proved to be a wonderful advert for the College Instrumental Tuition Programme with the String Ensemble delivering beautiful renditions of Highland Cathedral and the Skye Boat Song whilst the Wind Band performed a traditional favourite, Summer Holiday.

The pupils of Primary 7 also took full advantage of their opportunity to thrill the audience with their acting and dancing during an all Scots language performance of Rabbie Burns’ Tam O’Shanter which featured a surprise rendition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
