P2's Peaceful Hill Street Protest

P2's Peaceful Hill Street Protest

In case anyone was wondering what the ruckus was on Hill Street yesterday, P2, as part of their science lesson, decided to stage a peaceful protest about deforestation.

This was inspired by the children's discussion during our Science topic. They felt sad and upset as we discussed why forests were being cut or burned down and wanted to make their voice heard.

It also served to introduce them to their "Right to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly: Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)" and, as men and women for others, to stand up against injustice. Plus some wanted to make a big loud noise!

Thank you to Mr. McClintock for organising, and staff who helped encourage their enthusiasm for the rest of the day.
