School Show - The Crucible

School Show - The Crucible

After 18 months of restrictions, we were delighted to have been able to share our newest school show with a live audience – our rendition of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.

Our cast’s emotive performances stunned the crowd as they took us through the thematic and twisted tale of the Salem Witch Trials. As well as a stunning set, a chilling musical accompaniment was provided by our pupils, drawing the audience into the darkness of Massachusetts in the 1600s. In a departure from our usual musical production, our audience loved the approach taken to producing a play.

Director and Head of Drama Miss. Singh commented;

“…The students and I are extremely proud of the work that we have created and are even more excited to welcome a live audience back to the College.

This piece has been rehearsed over the last eight weeks and is a departure from the usual musical genre you are used to seeing from us. It is an ambitious project as it contains quite adult themes and is quite wordy and even harrowing in parts. This has proved to be a challenge for the students in terms of paying attention to the detail of the blocking as well as the practical task of learning lines and cues. Yet, their talent and characterisation have moved me to tears more than once during the rehearsal process.

Our aim in choosing this play is to broaden the experience for our learners and to allow those students who are not singers to also have the opportunity to develop their performance skills and be given the chance to perform for a live audience. To that end we will be producing a musical and a play for alternating years, moving forward.

We are eternally grateful for your continued support and we really hope you enjoy the show.”
