Teacher of History and Modern Studies (Maternity Cover)

St Aloysius’ College is seeking to appoint a full time Teacher of History and Modern Studies who will inspire and motivate our pupils to ensure that they reach their full potential.  The successful candidate will have a timetable of classes ranging from S1 – S6.  The delivery of History will be from S1 onwards, including National 5 and Higher History.  The delivery of Higher Modern Studies would also be anticipated.

The successful candidate must have the ability to plan coherent, progressive and stimulating teaching programmes matched to individual pupils’ needs; have the ability to incorporate a range of innovative and creative teaching strategies and methodology; and have experience of presentation for National Qualifications.

St Aloysius’ College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  The successful candidate is required to become a member of the PVG scheme.

To comply with the new regulations under The Education (Scotland) Act 2016, all teachers who commence employment at any Scottish Independent School on or after 1 October 2017 must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), either Provisional, Provisional (Conditional) or Full.  Further information can be obtained from the GTCS website.

The position is to cover a maternity leave and it is expected that the start date will be in February 2019.
