Teacher of Religious Education

St Aloysius’ College is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Religious Education who will develop lessons to inspire and motivate our pupils to enable them to reach their full potential.  The successful candidate will pursue a variety of pedagogical approaches in class and develop resources to support lessons and courses.

You will be expected to deliver a programme of core Religious Education for S1-S6 and to teach at all certified levels up to Advanced Higher.

It is an occupational requirement for this post that applicants are practicing Catholics and one reference must be from your parish priest or priest who can confirm your faith commitment.

St Aloysius’ College places safeguarding of its pupils as its highest priority and as such references will be taken up before the first round of interviews and the successful applicant will be subject to appropriate qualification checks and advanced PVG clearance. Appropriate safeguarding and safer recruitment questions will form part of the selection process.

To comply with the new regulations under The Education (Scotland) Act 2016, all teachers who commence employment at any Scottish Independent School on or after 1 October 2017 must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), either Provisional, Provisional (Conditional) or Full.  Further information can be obtained from the GTCS website.
