Principal's Welcome

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to St Aloysius’ College, a Catholic Jesuit school at the heart of Glasgow where every student is formed to achieve their personal best, intellectually, spiritually and socially.

Founded on the rich tradition of Jesuit education, our College is a place where academic excellence is pursued with rigour and where students are formed as compassionate, reflective and courageous young people, prepared to lead and serve in a complex and rapidly changing world.

I was educated by the Society of Jesus in Melbourne, Australia and know first-hand the enduring impact that a Jesuit education can have on a young person’s life. It is both a privilege and a responsibility to now lead a Jesuit school, one that blends centuries of tradition with a contemporary mission to form “women and men for others.”

We are unapologetically ambitious for our students, for our staff and for our community. Our goal is simple and profound: to be the finest school in Scotland. Not for prestige, but so that every child entrusted to our care can achieve their very best in a flourishing environment shaped by high expectations, care for the individual and a deep commitment to the common good.

At St Aloysius’ College, we believe that excellence takes many forms. Our students excel in the classroom, on the stage, in the studio, on the sports field and through service to others. Whether their gifts are academic, musical, artistic, athletic or rooted in leadership or social justice, we create the conditions in which they are nurtured and celebrated.

The heart of a Jesuit education lies in the formation of the whole person, intellectually, spiritually, morally and emotionally. Inspired by the Ignatian principles of cura personalis (care for the individual) and magis (the call to seek the greater good), we strive to form young people who are not only capable but also kind, not only successful but also just. Our alumni leave us ready not just for university or the workplace, but for a life of meaning and purpose.

We are proud of our rich heritage, our vibrant co-educational community and our enduring mission to form people of conscience, compassion and competence. At the same time, we are relentlessly forward-looking, preparing our students to thrive in a global world while remaining grounded in faith, values and service.

Whether you are a current member of our community or considering joining it, I warmly invite you to explore our College and discover what makes St Aloysius’ such a special place. I look forward to welcoming you.

Kind regards
Séamus Scorgie, Principal
