OA Wins BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Feature Film

OA Wins BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Feature Film

Congratulations to OA Paul Welsh (class of ’86) who, along with Hassan Nazer, Nadira Murray, and Arash Seifie Jamadi, won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Feature Film for Winners. The film, developed and post-produced in Scotland and filmed on location in Iran, follows the story of young children who discover an Oscar statue in their local village and celebrates the wonder of cinema.

The film is no stranger to success, after winning the audience award at its world premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 2022, taking home two awards at the British Independent Film Awards, and being crowned Best UK Feature at the Raindance Film Festival. Not only that, the film was selected by BAFTA in 2022 as the UK’s entry for Best International Feature Film for the Academy Awards that year.

Paul was kind enough to return to the College last year during the films run to take some of our pupils to the Glasgow Film Theatre for an afternoon showing of the film. Paul also spent some time with our students who are interested in a career in the film/media industry, and provided valuable knowledge that is sure to have inspired them.

Congratulations once again to Paul and the team. Their film, Winners, is available now on streaming services.
