Daniel Smith (class of '21) is no stranger to the world of climbing - having served St Aloysius' College as Climbing Captain in his final year in the Green Blazer. It's no surprise then that his climbing career has continued to reach new heights since, with his most recent accolade being crowned British Lead Climbing Champion 2023 after an intense finals competition weekend at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA).

The route set for the climbers bidding for a medal did not make things easy - with difficult moves and jumps spread throughout the climb. Daniel impressed onlookers by overcoming a particularly tricky obstacle with ease - a clear sign of his dedication to the sport that has continued to flourish from his time at the College.

Daniel returned home with the gold medal, making him British champion and proving the sky's the limit when it comes to his excellent climbing ability.
